Assessment procedures
Every delegate who has attended all four modules for the required face-to-face contact time, takes the end-of-course assessment. This assessment tests the course learning objectives and consists of two parts:
Part A – an invigilated, closed-book, end-of-course multi-format question paper
Part B – an invigilated, closed-book, end-of-course multi-choice hazard-spotting exercise.
Both parts should be completed at the end of the course and can be achieved within 30 minutes.
Mock Assessment
There is one mock assessment, containing four questions and one hazard-spotting exercise. This paper presents a range of question types, so that delegates experience all styles of questions. This mock assessment is used as a knowledge check after Parts 1-3 have been delivered. It also prepares delegates for the end test, and the instructor will carry out the Mock Assessment in similar conditions to the end test, with no contact between delegates, no internet searching and no access to IOSH workbooks.
The mock assessment has questions relating to Parts 1-3 and the assessment is kept by the trainer – the delegates must not take copies away with them.
End-test Assessments
Both the multi-format assessment and hazard spotting exercise are marked by the instructor according to the IOSH Marking Scheme.
To be eligible for an accredited IOSH Working Safely certificate, delegates must:
- Attend all 4 Parts
- Achieve the minimum mark on the End Test Assessment – this is 20 out of a possible 33.
- Achieve a minimum mark on the Hazard Spotting Exercises – this is 10 out of a possible 16
- Delegates must have a total score of 30 or more.
- However, if a delegate fails, they may be given some 1-1 feedback, and may be given the opportunity for a retest with a different End Test Assessment paper.
END OF COURSE FEEDBACK / EVALUATION
- All delegates are asked to complete an official IOSH feedback / evaluation form. This is important so that IOSH can monitor performance of Approved Training Providers as well as their own course materials.
- Additionally, there will be an opportunity to complete Gigsavvy feedback / evaluation. This is extremely helpful for Gigsavvy to monitor company performance and to ensure customer satisfaction.
CERTIFICATION:
- Delegates who attend all 4 Parts, and successfully complete both the end test and the Hazard Spotting Exercise will gain the official accredited IOSH Working Safely Certificate.
- Please note that Gigsavvy Ltd endeavour to be ‘paper-free’ and therefore the certificate is provided in digital format. However, physical certificates can be ordered and posted out, but there will be an extra cost for this.
- Whilst there is no expiry date on certificates, it is recommended by IOSH that refresher training is completed every three years.
