About Gigsavvy

Gigsavvy Ltd is an organisation formed in 2024 which evolved from former Sole Trader ‘Mark Elliott-GradIOSH’ [GradIOSH became CertIOSH in 2023 after a worldwide restructure by IOSH]
Mark Elliott has over 20 years experience in delivering Health & Safety Training, Workplace Assessment and Quality Assurance Training to Business Managers and Operatives across the UK, into EU and Asia.
High risk industries such as Oil/Gas/Renewables, Engineering & Construction, and Manufacturing are areas Mark has commonly worked in.
An additional career in the music industry sprang from a ‘labour of love’ in live music. Further skills were developed via completing a ‘Diploma in Managing a Music Business Enterprise’, leading to work in Music Publishing, Promoting, Artist Management and latterly as co-owner of a Grassroots Music Venue.
Taking experience from the more risker industries, and applying their cultural principles to the Live Music & Events industry has seen the development and launch of Gigsavvy Ltd.
The idea to develop the Gigsavvy Platform – a digital ecosystem of industry-specific training, working alongside health, safety and security management systems, neatly integrated with a directory of verified H&S compliant organisations, and an event/gig planner – received extensive funding and backing from two organisations who believed in the concept; Innovate UK were first to fund the system, followed by Creative UK’s Create Growth Program.
As an Approved IOSH Training Provider; Gigsavvy continues to work with all industries delivering courses for management and workers, but now has particular focus on further developing the Gigsavvy Platform for the Night-Time and Entertainment industries, with a mission to Build and Sustain A Positive Safety Culture in an industry which has not been without incident, and continues to struggle financially, particularly at Grassroots level.
“We realise that money is short in Grassroots Music Venues, and in the night-time industries in general. Peoples’ habits have changed, especially since the pandemic, and the way (younger) people tend to consume music is in danger of creating a void. Whilst Gigsavvy is more about the back-end of the industry, perhaps the side that audiences tend to see less of, it’s not just about supporting and improving the Safety Culture, it’s about inclusivity – attracting and supporting underrepresented groups in the creative industries. Equally it is about creating a collaborative ecosystem that can be much more self-sufficient, and which can therefore save time and money. …and let’s face it – it is those two things (time and money) that are often the drivers of why people take risks.
If we help individuals and organisations to easily include and formalise four aspects – Competence, Compliance, Control (of work) and Communication – in their daily approach, then we are well on the way to a Positive Safety Culture. Gigsavvy helps to deliver those four things, as has been realised by Innovate UK and Creative UK, for which we are hugely grateful. I’m extremely proud of the Gigsavvy Platform and very excited about the fact that we really can make a huge difference to the culture within this amazing industry.
We are already thinking of this as ‘phase one’ and money generated will go back into the Platform for continuous improvement of the system. Phase two will focus on Greener Touring, as well as things like Neurodiversity Training and Safeguarding, as we aim to attract a more diverse group of people into an industry which is still a huge export for the British economy.” – Mark Elliott: CEO Gigsavvy Ltd.
